CareerFest Southland opens up study, training, employment and career support services to the community to expose Southlanders to trends and opportunities in the current job and future job climate.
Traditionally, the expo is be open to school students and the general public to seek out advice and solutions to move forward their career aspirations. However, due the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 expo had to be cancelled and has been replaced by an online social media campaign from 16 July-18 September,
CareerFest implements a targeted engagement with real opportunities in the Southland labour market and developing awareness of options and a sense of career direction. The expo, which will be held annually, expands the net to provide information and guidance not just for school leavers, but others in the community, who are seeking a change in vocation or want to reaffirm / develop further their career focus.
CareerFest Southland has evolved over the years to suit the ever changing needs of the people of Southland with an emphasis shift to include the corporate sector, Southland businesses and key industries, along with traditional exhibitors from tertiary education providers, industry training specialists and government agencies. Together, they showcase the different options for Southlanders and the jobs of types the region will need over the next 10-15 years.
