We are the original exchange provider and have been active in NZ for over 75 years.
AFS Intercultural Programs is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organisation that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.
We send teenagers between 15 - 18.6 years old to a large variety of countries around the world for 5 month programs, or 10 month programs. AFS students live with a host family, attend the local school and become immersed in that country learning their language and culture.

New Zealand’s specialist land-based university
With its beginnings as an agricultural college in 1878, Lincoln became a university in its own right in 1990 and is now known as New Zealand’s specialist land-based university and has a mission to feed the world, protect the future and help people live well.
Lincoln University, Te Waihora (Christchurch) Campus is situated on a 58-hectare campus less than 30 minutes’ drive from the centre of Christchurch. The campus has a mix of modern and traditional buildings, surrounded by trees and open spaces and a staff to student ratio of 1:14.

Students pay only the material costs for their programme which can save them tens of thousands of dollars and set them in good stead for their future. If students are eligible for the government’s fees-free policy and planning to study at SIT’s Invercargill campus, they can also apply for SIT’s exclusive Mayor Tim Shadbolt Accommodation Bursaries for Invercargill. This gives students free shared accommodation in an SIT student apartment or $100 per week towards rental costs while they study.
